The world famous Pikes Peak has been my backyard for as long as I can remember. I recall taking field trips to its summit during elementary school, and in later years helping groups attempt to climb it. Pikes Peak is in my DNA. All the time of living in its shadow, I had always hope to photograph the Milky Way galaxy above it - and thought it was impossible due to light pollution. Until one night in October, I got the shot! It was so impressive that some photo groups accused me of photoshoping the stary sky into the background but it is all really there. Beholding our “purple mountain majesty” underneath the cosmos.
